The Online Care Groups, OCG, website was developed in response to the need in our society for connection, collaboration, information, learning, and support in an accessible, relaxed, and affordable venue.  OCG's digital platform allows a modern forum for adult interaction with a relevant menu of on-line remotely attended GROUP Events.  All sessions are confidential and secure over SSL using 1.2 AES 256-bit encryption. OCG groups follows the "Self Help" genre of support.

Self-help groups, also known as mutual help, mutual aid, or support groups, are groups of people who provide mutual support for each other. In a self-help group, the members share a common problem, often a common disease or addiction. Their mutual goal is to help each other to deal with, if possible to heal or to recover from, this problem.

At this time OCG groups will be coordinated by a para-professional group facilitator, not a professional counselor or therapist, but someone who has struggled and dealt with a similar problem and feels a great concern for those with similar burdens while possessing an unselfish desire to help others through the process...

Share, Listen, Care, Heal

“Members of a cohesive group feel warmth and comfort in the group and a sense of belongingness; they value the group and feel in turn that they are valued, accepted, and supported by other members.”

― Irvin D. Yalom

The instillation of hope.  Since group venues often include attendees at different stages in their journies, some of the newer ones can find encouragement from seeing the positive impacts on others session by session.

Universality. Just being part of a group of people who understand what you are going through and have experienced similar problems will help clients see that they are not alone, and that suffering is universal.

Interpersonal learning. Interacting with other group members and receiving feedback can help a client learn more about themselves.

Group cohesiveness. Group therapy sessions can facilitate a shared sense of belonging and acceptance of one another.

Catharsis. This principle is based on the healing powers of sharing with others; talking through your feelings and experiences in a group can help relieve or repair pain, guilt, shame, and/or doubt.

1. All discussion is confidential

2. Share with awareness of time (avoid too much detail -- about 1 minute per comment as a guide)

3. No socializing (not a forum for dating or communication outside the OCG website)

4. Be on time as a courtesy to other members

5. Attempt to use headphone/microphone to avoid distracting noises

6. Absolutely no gossip--do not divulge other names or places or dates in your sharing

7.  Zero tolerance for disrespect, inappropriate, profane, or sexually explicit verbiage

(attendee will be muted by the Facilitator for that session until a 1:1 conversation with the Director)
